Plastpro Announces Significant Expansion in Ashtabula

Doubling workforce to drive innovation and growth

Plastpro, a leading manufacturer of fiberglass doors, has announced plans to expand its operations in Ashtabula County, likely doubling their existing workforce. The project involves maintaining operations at their current Saybrook Township facility while expanding into a manufacturing facility at 6800 Center Road that boasts more than 900,000 square feet of space. The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) approved the project for tax credit assistance during its Ohio Tax Credit Authority meeting today.

The growth is necessitated to broaden the organization’s product offerings and enhance quality and innovation efforts.

“We take pride in being part of the Ashtabula community, with multiple generations of local families already employed at our facility and many more residents joining our team,” stated Shirley Wang, CEO of Plastpro. “Our commitment to American-made manufacturing of high-quality products is paramount, and building a well-trained workforce in the heart of America is one of our principles.

An economic development team including the Growth Partnership of Ashtabula County, ODOD, JobsOhio, and Team NEO worked together to ensure Plastpro selected Ashtabula for its growth over options being considered in other parts of the US.

“Today’s announcement reaffirms that manufacturing remains a key driver of growth in the region,” said Walt Good, Managing Director of Project Management at Team NEO. “Plastpro has a strong track record in Ashtabula County, and this investment will ensure their continued success here. Together with our local partners, JobsOhio, and ODOD, we welcome Plastpro’s commitment to job creation and economic stimulation in the area.”

About Plastpro

Founded in 1994 by businesswoman Shirley Wang, Plastpro is one of the few family-owned, female-led manufacturers in the world. In 2005, we opened our 266,000 square-foot plant in Ashtabula, bringing much-needed jobs to the region. Plastpro has always believed in providing a superior fiberglass door with the best value, technology, and commitment to our customers. We introduced the first fiberglass door with composite stiles and rails, HydroShield technology in 1995, and composite Polyfiber (PF) Frames to the market in 2003, which is still the leading technology in the door market. Our products are the best solution and are not susceptible to weather damage, require less maintenance, and offer higher performance ratings.

The future looks bright for both Plastpro and Ashtabula as we work together to strengthen Ohio’s workforce and produce excellent American-made products.
